Dr. Paul Beare, the author of Functional Analysis Assessment: A Practical Manualis a professor of special education at Moorhead State University in Western Minnesota. He has consulted and presented nationwide in the areas of emotional/behavioral disorders and challenging behavior. His research and writing have focused on assessment and intervention in a variety of settings. In addition to his teaching and writing, Dr. Beare is an Independent Hearing Officer for special education due process hearings in Minnesota.
Dr. Joan Blaska, the author of Using Children's Literature to Learn About Disabilities and Illness, is a Professor in the Department of Child and Family Studies at St. Cloud State University. Dr. Blaska teaches family courses and early childhood methods for children with and without disabilities. She also coordinates the early childhood special education licensure program. Using Children's Literature to Learn About Disabilities and Illness is the result of four years of research in the area of children's literature that includes a character with a disability or illness. Dr. Blaska frequently presents at state and national conferences and consults extensively with early childhood programs on curriculum issues and on working effectively with families who have children with disabilities.

Dr. Gail Bornfield, the author of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder: A Practical Guide for Teachers, Practical Strategies for Mathematics Instruction, Practical Strategies for Reading Instruction, and Practical Strategies for Written Language Instruction, is on special assignment with the public schools in Tucson, Arizona. Dr. Bornfield has served grades K-12 in the public schools as a teacher, school psychologist, emotionally handicapped specialist, principal, and special education administrator. She has worked directly with students with ADHD and as a consultant to teachers of students with ADHD, and has made presentations at national conferences on ADHD. Dr. Bornfield's goal has always been to ensure that students gain self-control and become as independent as possible academically.
Dr. Lynne Chalmers, the author of Modifying Curriculum for the Special Needs Student in the Regular Classroom, Successful Inclusion: Assistance for Teachers of Adolescents with Mild Disabilities, and Collaboration Handbook for Educators Working Toward Inclusion of Special Needs Students, is a professor of special education at the University of North Dakota. Dr. Chalmers has taught adolescents with learning and behavior problems for over fifteen years. She is the author of several articles and has made presentations at national professional meetings on how to more effectively teach students with learning and behavior problems. She regularly conducts inservice training sessions with both general education and special education teachers to assist them in meeting the needs of special learners more effectively.

Dr. Julie Jochum, author of Responding Differentlly to Writers and Writing, was a professor of education at Bemidji State University where she taught elementary education undergraduate students and graduate special education students. She is a past President of the Council for Learning Disabilities and is currently the president of the Northern Lights Chapter of CLD serving learning disabilities teachers from Minnesota, North Dakota, and Manitoba. Dr. Jochum is currently a special education consultant in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Dr. Myrna Olson, the author of Collaboration Handbook for Educators Working Toward Inclusion of Special Needs Students, is a professor of special education at the University of North Dakota. She has 25 years of experience in education, several of which were with the blind and visually impaired.
Dr. Barbara Wasson, the author of Successful Inclusion: Assistance for Teachers of Adolescents with Mild Disabilities was a professor of special education and chair of the Special Education and Counseling Department at Moorhead State University where she taught courses and practicums in special education, and consulted extensively with teachers of mildly handicapped adolescents. Dr. Wasson is also the author of Reading Difficulties: Their Diagnosis and Treatment (1994, 7th edition), published by Allyn and Bacon. Currently Barbara lives in Oregon with her husband John, and her calico cat Chobe.
